Being a “Mom and Pop” business has not hurt Andover Hillside Self Storage Center, located at 132 Route 6 . In fact, say owners James and Irmgard Bousfield, it has worked to their advantage. For example, the Bousfields try to make sure one of them answers the phone 8am-8pm seven days a week. “People know when they talk on the phone that it’s us” James Bousfield said. Also James Bousfield said, they are able to accommodate people better than companies with regular hours. If customers want to go there on Sundays, or before work on weekdays, they can do so by making an appointment. ….People also store their cars there during the winter, Irmgard Bousfield said. “We are their garage, so to speak” she said. …Security on the lot is tight, with cameras mounted around the area, and an automated gate that can only be opened with specific codes….The gate is left opened when the Bousfields are on site, however. During those times, people are able to tour the site, make payments or talk to the Bousfields in person.
